AnotacijaStraipsnyje pristatomu tyrimu siekiama apibūdinti veiksmingą mentorystę slaugos studijų kontekste. Šiam tikslui pasiekti pasirinktas modifikuotas koncepto raidos analizės metodas, apimantis teorinę ir empirinę koncepto analizes. Empiriniam tyrimui atlikti taikytas grupinės diskusijos metodas. Duomenims surinkti buvo sudarytos trys diskusijų grupės, kuriose dalyvavo 7 slaugos dėstytojai ir 18 slaugos studentų. Duomenų analizei taikytas kokybinės turinio analizės metodas. Tyrimu atskleidžia-ma veiksmingos mentorystės samprata slaugos studijų kontekste. Atlikta veiksmingos mentorystės koncepto analizė leidžia teigti, kad veiksminga slaugos studentų mentorystė yra kompleksinė, nes apima individualių poreikių ir mokymo programos tikslų integraciją, akcentuoja santykių, mentoriaus pedagoginių žinių, asmeninių savybių, savimotyvacijos, profesinių gebėjimų svarbą. PAGRINDINIAI ŽODŽIAI: veiksminga mentorystė, mentorius, slaugos studijos, praktinis mokymas. AbstractThe goal of the research presented in this paper -to characterize effective mentoring in the context of nursing studies. Modified evolutionary concept analysis method, that includes theoretical and empirical analysis of the concept, was used to achieve this goal. The group discussion method was employed to conduct the empirical research. Three groups of discussion composed from the 7 members of nursing faculty and 18 nursing students were created to collect data. The research has revealed concept of the effective mentoring in the context of nursing studies. The performed concept analysis lets state that the effective mentoring of nursing student is a complex process, because it includes integration of individual needs and curriculum objectives, highlights importance of relationship, mentor's pedagogical knowledge, personal qualities, self-motivation, professional competencies. ĮvadasDaugelyje Europos šalių slaugytojų išsilavinimas įgyjamas baigus laipsnį suteikiančias aukštojo mokslo studijų programas. Aukštojo mokslo institucijos, remiantis Europos Sąjungos direktyvomis, vykdo slaugos studijų programas, kurios užtikrina kompetencijų, būtinų profesinei slaugos praktikai, įgijimą (Jokelainen, Jamookeeah, Tossavainen, Turunen, 2013). Slauga yra ir menas, ir mokslas, reikalaujantis specifinių slaugos žinių, gebėjimų taikymo praktinėje veikloje. Pasak V. Žydžiūnaitės (2005), slauga yra veikla, kuriai atlikti slaugytojams būtinos atitinkamos kompetencijos, padedančios realizuoti fizinę ir intelektinę veiklas, atsižvel-giant į socialinius, kultūrinius, psichologinius bei aplinkos veiksnius. Slaugytojai, kaip profesinė grupė, dirba ne tik tiesioginį slaugos darbą, bet ir slaugos dėstyto-jais, mentoriais, slaugos tyrėjais, administratoriais.

ResumoNeste trabalho é analisada a construção coletiva de um discurso pedagógico realizado por preceptores do campo da saúde que passaram por um processo de formação pedagógica. Preceptores são profissionais que, em sua prática clínica, atuam como educadores, acompanhando discentes e residentes em formação. O artigo é constituído por duas partes: A Prática da Preceptoria em Saúde, em que se trata de sua definição, problemas e desafios, apontando um curso de formação como uma estratégia educacional relevante; e Análise Crítica do Discurso, em que se usa metodologia homônima para se debruçar sobre as sínteses coletivas dos preceptores, no sentido de melhor entender os discursos presentes em seus textos e avaliar a apropriação dos conteúdos trabalhados. Constatou-se que, ao mesmo tempo em que a produção discursiva coletiva é um exercício pedagógico enriquecedor, também é um processo desafiador que demanda paciência e dedicação das partes envolvidas para se alcançar o objetivo proposto.

Role functions of staff nurse preceptors for undergraduate pre-licensure nursing students

Preceptorships are an indispensable part of undergraduate clinical education and are prevalent among schools of nursing. However, there is wide interpretation and implementation of preceptorships which leaves many facets of the preceptor role poorly understood. Research has suggested preceptors experience several benefits from serving; however, the role has also been described as one leading to overload, conflict, and burnout. There is a lack of studies exploring preceptor role functions from the perspective of those who serve in it. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore staff nurse experiences as preceptors to undergraduate, pre-licensure nursing students with emphasis on the RN's perceptions of the role, specifically the preparation for, support in, and understanding of what the role entails. Focus groups were used to collect data. Transcripts were analyzed using conventional content analysis. Findings suggest that the primary role function is Protector, with Socializer and Teacher as secondary role functions. Preceptors in this study described a strong empathetic drive to protect students from negative experiences, to protect patients from harm, to protect their own professional identities, and to protect the nature of the nursing profession. Within each role function, there are specific behaviors in which the preceptor engages to varying degrees depending on the needs of the individual student. Findings have implications for continued development of the preceptor role.
