Abstract

BrainwashingTheories. This paper is concemed about the brainwashing theories. These theories are developed for explanation of participation to new religious movements and religious conversion cases increasing since 1970's. This paper will focus prinıarily on the definition of brainwashing concept and its tecniques and processes. Secondly, it will swnmarize its evolution in historieal period. Finally, it will present the critical evaluation of brainwashing theories whether theyarescientific theory or pseudo-scientific m}th as it has generally been rejeeted by academicians, especially sociologists.
