K-dramas are an important, bi-directional global platform for cultural exchange and innovation and for social critique [69], whose audience contains well-educated, media-savvy, digitally sophisticated fandom circles [70]-a far cry from the typical content spectra and audience targets of soap operas (which exist in the current landscape of Korean TV production as well).
