The aim of this study is to examine the social media addiction levels of high school students who do sports and who do not, according to the mixed model research, and to evaluate their views on social media. The universe of the study consists of the students studying at Hüdavent Hatun Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and Proje Imam Hatip High School, affiliated to Niğde Provincial Directorate of National Education, in the 2018-2019 academic year. In the quantitative part of the study, the typical case sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used as the sampling method, and in this context, the sample of the study was composed of 283 students who were determined to the typical case sampling method. "Mixed method research" has been adopted as research model and "Explanatory Design", one of the mixed method research designs, has been used in this context. In this direction; In the quantitative part of the study, the "Social Media Addiction Scale", whose validity and reliability study was carried out by Fırat and Barut in 2018, was used, in the qualitative part, 12 women and 12 men who voluntarily agreed to participate in the study among the participants with a high level of addiction according to the criterion sampling method. Content analysis and descriptive analysis were applied to the data obtained through interviews with 24 participants (students). In the qualitative analysis of the research, 8 themes and sub-themes related to these themes were formed. As a result; It can be said that the variables of gender, regular sports and the number of siblings have a partial effect on social media addiction. In addition, it is observed that there is a low level negative relationship between the age variable and social media addiction. However, it is considered an important result that high school students are not conscious enough despite their active use of social media, they are passive in terms of participating in social activities, and therefore their social media addiction levels are higher than those who participate in physical activity.
