“…TPR, i.e. from 6 Li + 7 Li, is 0.001 ± 0.005 (2 ) with a maximum of 0.004 ± 0.006(2 ). Compared to the 2% error range in TPR due to nuclear data in the HCLL mock-up[20], both the neutron flux and TPR calculated with TRIPOLI-4 can be considered as acceptable, as MCAM tool and the FNG tabulated source from KIT adapted to TRIPOLI-4.…”

“…The Li-Pb liquid eutectic alloy (90% 6 Li enrichment), fed from the back top and recovered from the bottom, circulates slowly from one cell to the next by meandering between the cooling plates. 3D Monte Carlo calculations have shown that a global TBR equal to 1.13 can be obtained for a PPCS-type power reactor with a radial thickness of the breeding zone of 80 cm outboard and 45 cm inboard [10]. With a total thickness of the blanket/shield system of 115 and 165 cm, inboard and outboard, respectively, the shielding performance of the HCLL blanket was shown to satisfy the requirements for the protection of the super-conducting magnet.…”

“…Table 1 presents a summary description of these, and a comparison with ITER. A fifth concept, plant model AB, is a further near-term design currently under study [10]. The physics of plant models A, B and AB (PMA, PMB and PM-AB) is just above the conservative ITER operational regime.…”
