Brief report: An examination of the relationships between parental monitoring, self‐esteem and delinquency among Mexican American male adolescents

Abstract: The present study examined relationships between parental monitoring (mother and father), self‐esteem, and delinquency among 95 adjudicated Mexican American male adolescents who were on probationary status with the juvenile justice system. Consistent with previous literature pertaining to familial processes and delinquency among the general adolescent population, findings from the current study revealed that parental monitoring was negatively associated with delinquency.
