Abstract:To asses the toughness of a 90 mm thick MIG-weld joint of A1 Mg4.5 Mn fracture mechanics and charpy impact material parameters have been determined at 20 "C and -196 "C. Additional to the mechanical tests extensive metallographic and fractographic tests on specimens of the weld material and base material were done.
