Kampong chicken is an indigenous chicken that gains popularity among consumers andit has good potentialsas a livestock commodity. But, the problem is most kampong chicken were kept in free range system without any standard of the rearing procedure and time. The farmers will sell their chickens by market’s requests. The study aims to determine the agribusiness production and marketing sub-system of kampong chickens. A hundred kampong chicken farmers from 9 sub-districts in Batang Regency were interviewed. Respondents were chosen by simple random sampling. Each farmer owned 4-120 kampong chickens with average number of 6.76 heads per farm. The poultry production sub-system consisted of six constituent variables, namely administration/bookkeeping, location, maintenance technology, maintenance system, business continuity and sanitation. Each constituent variable produced score of 1.44; 1.75; 1.68; 2.77; 1.55 and 2.03 respectively with the average value of 1.87. These results indicated that the applications of agribusiness production sub-systems were in the moderate category. The assessment of the marketing sub-system application included five variables namely marketing scale, marketing objectives, marketing technology, market information and pricing with the following scores 1.52, 1.76, 1.41, 1.85 and 1.18 respectively; or have an average value of 1.54. This result showed that the marketing sub-system has a moderate category. Improving the production system which consisted of the bookkeeping record, increase the number of rearing scale and sanitation process would improve farm productivity. Increasing marketing systems such as the application of electronic marketing would improve market efficiency. The results showed that the improvement of production and marketing agribusiness sub-systems are needed in order to increase farmers’ income.

The research aims to determine the degree of chicken egg market integration, determine the price asymmetric and determine the financial feasibility of chicken egg business in Central Java, Indonesia. Secondary data from January 2017- December 2019 was used for research. Survey research was conducted on 100 (one hundred) laying hens farmers. The research study was conducted in Semarang city, Kendal regency and Semarang regency. Johansen test, Pearson correlation and Granger Causality test were used in this study. Financial feasibility analyses such as investment, payback period (PP), net present value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Return on Investment (ROI), and Benefit-cost (B/C) ratio are used in this study. The result showed there was a positive correlation between the Price in Kendal Regency and Semarang City. Increasing prices in Semarang City caused the increasing Price in Kendal regency vice versa. There was a marketing integration between Semarang city and Kendal regency, and Granger Causality showed Price in Semarang city influenced the Price in Kendal regency and Semarang regency. The price of chicken eggs in Semarang city, Kendal regency, and Semarang city were symmetric. Based on the calculation of PP, NPV, IRR, ROI and B/C ratio, laying hens business in Central Java is feasible to run.

This study aimed to create a model for the sustainability of duck farming in Indonesia. Two hundred duck farmers in Brebes Regency were randomly selected as research respondents. Brebes is the duck production center of Indonesia. Approximately 80% of duck egg production originates in this area. The variables utilized include socioeconomic characteristics of duck farmers, social variables, age, education, medicinal seeds, feed, dried-cooked rice, trash fish, processing, business pattern, marketing, technology, and production; the endogenous variable was sustainability. Structural equation modeling (SEM) using TETRAD-IV software was employed to establish the analytical model. The results show that duck farming is sustainable regarding social, economic, and environmental aspects. Medical and technological factors significantly affect production. Social factors, egg processing, technology, and production significantly affect sustainability. To improve the sustainability of duck farming, it is necessary to increase the role of the farmer association, apply feed processing technology, diversify duck egg processing and boost technical efficiency in regard to increasing duck egg production. Focusing on these efforts will increase the sustainability of duck farming in Indonesia. Duck farming is sustainable based on a social perspective, economic analysis, and environmental viability.
