“…In the context of that scheme, the present results suggest that local CRP production by tumor cells may be higher in patients with the CRP 1846T/T genotype than in those with the CRP 1846C/C or C/T genotype. Nonetheless, in our previous study, we found no significant difference in baseline CRP levels or the levels after major surgery between the CRP 1846T/T genotype and CRP 1846C/C and C/T genotypes in our Japanese study population [16]. Furthermore, Kolz et al showed that the CRP 1846T/T genotype was associated with lower levels of baseline CRP [28].…”

“…The relationship between CRP levels and disease, including malignant tumors, has been extensively investigated, and evidence suggests that high CRP levels are associated with a poor prognosis in patients with malignant tumors [4][5][6], including NSCLC [7][8][9][10]. Although genetic polymorphisms are known to influence CRP levels in inflammatory diseases [20,21] and after major surgery [16], in the present study, baseline levels in patients with the CRP 1846T/T genotype did not differ from those in patients with the CRP 1846C/C or C/T genotype, which is consistent with our earlier findings in esophageal cancer patients [17]. The elevations in CRP elicited by inflammatory diseases and major surgery reflect a systemic inflammatory response, but in patients with early stage malignant tumors, the inflammation is more likely to be localized to the region around the tumor and may not cause an elevation in CRP levels, irrespective of CRP genotype.…”

“…When allele G changed into C in rs1800947, circulating CRP of genotype GG carrier individual is higher than genotype CC carrier in healthy individuals (Suk et al, 2005;Lange et al, 2006;Kivimäki et al, 2007;Chaturvedi et al, 2010) and thoracic esophageal cancer patients after exophagectomy (Motoyama et al, 2009). It suggested that cancer patients with genotype CC carrier shared a lower serum level of CRP than GG carrier.…”

“…221 unrelated articles, 10 reviews and meta-analysis, 6 communications or letter, 7 single group design articles, 2 articles of controls were not healthy individuals and no data of two articles were excluded from the study in accordance with criteria of inclusion and exclusion. As a result, only 10 original studies (Wen et al, 2008;Motoyama et al, 2009;Pierce et al, 2009;Poole et al, 2009;Tsilidis et al, 2009;Chaturvedi et al, 2010;Ognjanovic et al, 2010;Slattery et al, 2011;Yang et al, 2011;Xu et al, 2013) were identified as eligible studies in our study. The detail flow chart of retrieval and identification and baseline characteristics of eligible studies were showed in Figure 1and Table 2 and Figure 2.…”
