Chain Modeling of Molecular Communications for Body Area Network

Abstract: Molecular communications provide an attractive opportunity to precisely regulate biological signaling in nano-medicine applications of body area networks. In this paper, we utilize molecular communication tools to interpret how neural signals are generated in response to external stimuli. First, we propose a chain model of molecular communication system by considering three types of biological signaling through different communication media. Second, communication models of hormonal signaling, Ca2+ signaling an… Show more

“…The relay node resides in the environment can be an artificial nanomachine [14] or biological one [20]. In nature, many biological systems have the both of molecule emission and reception capabilities [23], [24], for example, biochemical positive feedback loops process is common in protein channel of human body [25]. These are a key for designing a nanomachine, which acts as relay node.…”

“…For example, in case of utilizing DMC in drug delivery, the time of releasing the drugs into the intended location is controlled by the drug releasing mechanism [4]. Our target is finding the symbol duration ratio (t s,DMC ) in a way that (24) holds. Next, we formulate an optimization algorithm for finding the optimum time slot partitioning to achieve the best performance in E2E communication.…”

“…A very widely-used paradigm, which represents the network engineering, is the Internet of bio-nano things (IoBNT). This paradigm stems from the artificial biology and nanotech¬nology tools that allows the engineering of biologically-embedded devices [3]. It can sustain novel Internet of Things (IoT) applications, such as intra-body sensing, actuation networks, health monitoring, health-care and targeted therapy [4].…”
