Changes in the transcriptional activity of the entero-insular axis genes in streptozotocin-induced diabetes and after the administration of TNF-α non-selective blockers

Abstract: Objective. The aim of the present study was to investigate the transcriptional activity of the GLP-1R, DPP-4, SGLT-1, INSR, and IGF-1R genes in GALT cells of rats with streptozotocin-induced diabetes in both untreated and treated with pentoxifylline, as a non-specific blocker of TNF-α.Methods. The expression of GLP-1R, DPP-4, SGLT-1, INSR, and IGF-1R genes in GALT cells of rats was studied by real time quantitative polymerase chain reaction.Results. It was shown that the development of diabetes was accompanied… Show more

“…One of the main directions of biomedical research today is identifying genetic factors and their role in developing multifactorial diseases [ 14 ]. Analysis of the genome can be used to detect these hereditary factors [ 15 , 16 ]; often, mutations contributing to the increased disease risk are single nucleotide polymorphisms [ 17 – 19 ].…”

“…Previous investigations have detected that thyroid hormones play an essential role in BDNF expression [17]. An essential method used for identifying a hereditary predisposition to certain diseases is based on the analysis of transcriptome [18], [19] and single-nucleotide polymorphism [20], [21], [22].…”

“…Changes in metabolism induced by hyperglycemia in diabetes can directly affect the immunometabolism of lymphocytes [78] , [79] . T cells express several glucose transporters including Glut 1 [80] .…”
