“…The serovars' overall distribution varied slightly among countries, and four serovars (1, 4, 5/12, and 7) accounted for half of all isolates. Serovars 4 and 5/12, in particular, were consistently represented across all regions in this study and previous studies [13,[22][23][24][25][26][27][28].…”

“…The serovars of utmost clinical significance were identified in samples from internal sites (serovars 4, 5/12, 1, 7, and 13) in this study. These serovars have been previously considered disease-associated [12,13,[22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30]. Variable sample sizes limited our ability to discern significant differences in serovar prevalence at the country level.…”

“…As in many other countries in Europe and all over the world [6,7,12,13,[23][24][25][26][27][28], serovar 4 is strongly represented in the present study with a portion of approximately 25% of our isolates belonging to this serovar. Similarly to recent studies from Northern Italy, the UK and Southern China [12,13,23], serovar 4 is the most important serovar in our collection, too, whereas in other countries serovar 5 (or serotype 5/12 respectively) appears to be more frequent [7,24,27,28]. However, eight other serovars (namely 13, 6, 1, 12, 7, 2, 9, and 5) were detected at frequencies of 12.3-5.2% each, and only serovar 3 was not isolated at all.…”

“…According to the research on the serotype of H. parasuis, the most prevalent serotypes were serotype 5, followed by serotype 2 and serotype 4 in Quang Binh and Thua Thien Hue provinces in Central Vietnam (17). One study about the prevalence and characteristics of H. parasuis from healthy pigs in China from 2016 to 2017 showed that the most prevalent serovars were 7, followed by 3, 2, 11, 5/12 and 4 (18).…”
