Charmonium Spectrum and Their Transitions in Relativistic Quark Models

Abstract: Using the phenomenological relativistic harmonic model (RHM) for quarks, we have obtained the masses of S wave charmonium states. The full Hamiltonian used in the investigation has Lorentz scalar plus vector confinement potential, along with the confined one gluon exchange potential (COGEP). A good agreement with the experimental masses for the ground state and the radially excited states is obtained for both the triplet and singlet S wave mesons. The calculated charge radii, meson decay constants, leptonic de… Show more

“…Theoretically, there have been many X, Y and Z investigations using a variety of methods, such as perturbative NRQCD [9,10], lattice QCD [11,12], effective field theory [13,14,15], QCD sum rule [16,17] and potential models [18,19,20,21], all reviewed in detail elsewhere [22,23]. One plausible conjecture [24,25,26] is these states are tetraquarks containing light, q = u or d, and charm, c, quarks in different color schemes.…”

“…We recall that a simplified Dirac-Coulomb equation was proposed for atomic systems [37]. A Dirac harmonic oscillator shell model with spin-symmetry was also used to study quark-antiquark spectroscopy [38]. The reduction of this work is mainly oriented to the study of few-body hadronic systems and avoids from the beginning the CDP.…”

“…These QCD inspired potential models use a short range part motivated by perturbative QCD (Coulomb like or one gluon exchange potential) [20,[22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30] and a phenomenological long range part accounting for confinement (i.e. linear, logarithmic or quadratic potential) [31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38]. Our Model uses the NRQM formalism for the study of low lying charmonium states using a Hamiltonian which has the heavy quark potential from the instanton vacuum depending on r, the inter quark distance.…”
