Chitinophaga dinghuensis sp. nov., isolated from soil

Abstract: A Gram-reaction-negative, aerobic, non-motile bacterial strain, DHOC24 T , was isolated from the forest soil of Dinghushan Biosphere Reserve, Guangdong Province, PR China. Strain DHOC24 T underwent a shape change during the course of culture from long filamentous cells (10-3060.4-0.5 mm) at 2 days to coccobacilli (0.5-1.060.7-1.0 mm) at 15 days after inoculation. It grew optimally at 28-33 8C and pH 6.5-7.5.The major quinone of strainDHOC24 T was MK-7, the main fatty acids were iso-C 15 : 0 , C 16 : 1 v5c and … Show more

“…For the time being, there are 27 species of the genus listed on LPSN (List of Prokaryotic Names with Standing in Nomenclature: www.bacterio.net). Most of the strains of the genus Chitinophaga were isolated from soil, such as forest soil [4,5], mountain soil [6] and plant rhizosphere soil [7][8][9], and they were also found in river sediment [2], wastewater [10], weathered rock [11], vermicompost [12] and plant [13].…”
