Clinical impact of cardiovascular disease on patients with bronchiectasis

Abstract: Background: Patients with bronchiectasis have a higher cardiovascular risk than their matched controls. However, the effect of cardiovascular (CV) disease on bronchiectasis remains unclear. Thus, we aimed to investigate the clinical impacts of cardiovascular disease on adult patients with bronchiectasis. Methods: The study cohort comprised 603 consecutive inpatients diagnosed with bronchiectasis in the Affiliated Yancheng Hospital of Southeast University Medical College (Jiangsu, China) from January 2014 to De… Show more

“…This study suggests that the development of a prediction model of bone metastasis based on SBI is both feasible and meaningful. Collinearity, which exists in variables that are similar or have a strong association, should be checked before modeling, and variables with significant collinearity should not be included ( 33 35 ). Given that SBI and T category had strong collinearity (r = 0.657) in this study, while TNM stage did not (r = 0.293), TNM stage was selected for subsequent analyses.…”

“…The anti-inflammatory effects ( 55 , 56 ) of bronchodilators (LABAs/ LAMAs, SABAs/SAMAs), steroids, and antiarrhythmic drugs are limited; thus, the effect of these drugs for ameliorating the progression of persistent artery stiffness was suboptimal. Therefore, compared with the non-BCAS cohort, the BCAS cohort who used bronchodilators (current or high SABAs/SAMAs, steroids), and antiarrhythmic drugs (current use) had higher risks of HDS ( 5 , 11 , 57 ). However, with patients not using (SABAs, OSs) as the reference group, (SABAs, OSs) use were associated with a lower risk of HDS.…”

“…Cardiac disorders are common in respiratory disease in general and especially in chronic lung diseases [ 5 ]. There were many records about the increased risk of cardiovascular diseases in patients with bronchiectasis [ 6 , 7 ].…”
