“…The relation between fatigue and impaired QOL has been found in several other studies as well. 3,4,68,18,22 One recent study found a correlation between mental QOL and cognitive fatigue, as well as physical QOL and motor fatigue, supporting our results. 8 Another study found similar results but noted that the different components of fatigue (physical, cognitive, social role and psychological dimension) each correlated equally with all dimensions of QOL.…”

“…The knowledge on the different impact of motor and cognitive fatigue may prove helpful for clinicians in predicting potential problems related to areas of QOL among MS-patients and have implications for the choice of treatment and care. 8 For example, mental QOL and cognitive fatigue (but not physical) has shown to correlate to depression, 7,18,23 suggesting early interventions targeted at psychological problems among this group of patients, in order to reduce fatigue and improve QOL. Moreover, Amantadine has shown to have a positive effect on fatigue, but no effect on depression, which might indicate that it is most effective on patients in whom physical fatigue is predominant.…”

“…These results are consistent with available studies. Other authors as well confirmed that EDSS score [9], fatigue [9, 19-21, 25, 28], disability [19, 20, 25], and quality of sleeping [9, 21] were found to be more predictive of QoL.…”

“…To evaluate the QoL of MS patients, studies use both generic and specific questionnaires. Most frequently, the following generic questionnaires are used: SF-36 [11, 18, 27], WHOQoL-Bref [23, 24], EQ-D-3L [22, 28], and the specific questionnaire Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life MSQOL-54 [10, 17, 19-21, 26, 27]. In many cases, these specific tools are not culturally acceptable for all countries; thus, it seems more convenient to create a specific questionnaire that would be appropriate for this population.…”
