Colon lymphomas: an analysis of our experience over the last 23 years

Abstract: due to the variable aspects of CL on endoscopy, a histological study of all colonic segments is required. Chemotherapy is the treatment of choice and emergency surgery followed by chemotherapy is required for complications. Primary factors associated with poorer survival include age above 65 years, relapsing disease and partial or nil responses.

“…The usual presentation is generalized lymphadenopathy, although extranodal involvement is common at sites such as the peripheral blood, bone marrow and gastrointestinal tract (2,6). Primary MCL of the colon is a rare entity and the most common symptoms are abdominal pain and weight loss, with a palpable abdominal mass identified on physical examination (7). The most common sites of involvement are the ileocecal region and cecum and the macroscopic appearance varies from a tumoral mass, ulcer and mucosal thickness to multiple polypoid lesions (7).…”

The most common sites of involvement are the ileocecal region and cecum and the macroscopic appearance varies from a tumoral mass, ulcer and mucosal thickness to multiple polypoid lesions (7). The most common endoscopic feature of primary intestinal MCL is multiple lymphomatous polyposis, which has been described in some reports (1).…”

“…La tomografía computarizada permite su diagnóstico y estadificación, siendo la endoscopia inespecífica, pudiéndose encontrar desde una mucosa normal o con mínimas irregularidades hasta tumores de gran tamaño indistinguibles de un adenocarcinoma 3 . Mediante imagen, el linfoma de intestino y colon aparece como una masa focal o un engrosamiento de la pared segmentaria con dilatación asociada de la luz.…”
