Combination of 15 lipid metabolites and motilin to diagnose spleen-deficiency FD

Abstract: Background This study aims to assess clinical characteristics in FD with spleen deficiency syndrome and metabolic perturbations involved in FD progress. We combined metabolic biomarkers and clinical features into a better prediction for FD with Spleen Deficiency syndrome. Methods A total of 276 people were recruited, including 215 FD patients and 61 healthy control group (HC). The clinical characteristics and gastric emptying rate were compared between spleen deficiency… Show more

“…The symptom of abdominal distention suggests that the Qi of the spleen and stomach are stagnant and fail to transport food, consequently manifesting a feeling of fullness or distention in the abdomen. Currently, the widely used assays for the spleen and stomach Qi stagnation involve gastric emptying and small bowel transit (J. Q. Zhang et al, ). Notably, in this study, 6‐week stressed rats showed an evident symptom of abdominal distention with significant inhibition of gastric emptying and small bowel transit.…”

“…With the development of modern research in TCM, metabolomics is increasingly being applied to the study of syndrome differentiation in TCM, such as spleen-deficiency and qi-stagnation. 10 , 18 However, there have been no reports on the mechanism research or related metabolomics studies regarding the pathogenesis of gallbladder heat and spleen cold syndrome, which is one of the most common clinical syndromes. Furthermore, Chaihu Guizhi Ganjiang Decoction, as a classic formula for treating digestive system disorders, also lacks any relevant metabolomics reports regarding its therapeutic effects on gastric diseases.…”

“…A comparison of metabolic pathways showed that ginseng could mainly correct three metabolic pathways, such as glyceride metabolism, taurine and hypotaurine metabolism, and beta‐alanine metabolism in rats with spleen‐qi deficiency. Glyceride metabolism is a common metabolic pathway which is related to the synthesis of glycerides and energy metabolism [27]. The contents of glycerol and dihydroxyacetone in the urine of spleen‐qi‐deficient rats were lower than that of normal rats.…”
