Commercial equipment loads: End-Use Load and Consumer Assessment Program (ELCAP)

Abstract

Administration is generally responsible for the agency's power and conservation resource planning. An associated responsibility which supports a variety of office functions is the analysis of historical trends inand determinants of energy consumption. The Office of Energy Resources' End-Use Research Section .. operates a comprehensive data collection program to provide pertinent ,, information to support demand-side planning., load forecasting, and demand-. side program development and delivery. Part of this on-going program is known as the End-Use Load and Consumer Assessment Program (ELCAP), an effort .. designed to collect electricity usage data through direct monitoring of enduse loads inbuildings. This program_is conducted for Bonneville by the Pacific Northwest Laboratory. Thisreport provides detailed information on electricity consumption of miscellaneous equipment from the commercial portion of ELCAP. Miscellaneous .equipment includes all commercial end-uses except heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and central lighting systems. Someexamples of end-uses covered in this report are office equipment, computers, task lighting, refrigeration, and food preparation. Electrici_y consumption estimates, in kilowatt-hours per square foot per year, are provided for each end-use by building type. The .following types of buildings are covered: office, retail, restaurant, grocery, warehouse, school, university, and hotel/motel.
