“…Fourth, the over-lap with the learning difficulties spills over into educational problems and this may further impair young people's ability to relate appropriately to their age peers. Furthermore, many had begun their depredations very early and there is evidence that the earlier this starts, the greater likelihood this becomes a repetitive pattern of behaviour (Alison et al, 2012;Chakhssi et al, 2013;Cohen, Forman, Steinfeld, & Galynker, 2010;Erooga & Masson, 2002;Glowacz & Born, 2013;Pritchard, 2004;van der Put et al, 2014). The above psychosocial environmental factors reflect recent studies from continental Europe and North America (Chakhassi et al, 2013;Glowacz & Born, 2013;Reavis et al, 2013;van der Put et al, 2014), which gives the authors some confidence in the validity of the findings of this small British study.…”

“…In addition, a significant association between the history of sexual abuse and high level of impulsivity was observed [25]. On the other hand, results of other study suggest that the history of sexual abuse may be considered an important risk factor of pedophilia, but not the risk of substance dependence [50]. Notably, this study was performed in the group of opioid dependent patients, who are a specific population of substance users.…”

“…As a search of the key words "child sexual abuse" on Scholars Portal reveals, CSA is indeed associated with a broad range of somatic, psychological, and behavioural conditions: depression, suicide, and anxiety (Kimonis et al, 2010;Paolucci, Genuis, & Violato, 2001), drug use and other addictions (Cohen et al, 2010;Wilson & Widom, 2010), as well as a host of disorders (Becker, Stuewig, & McCloskey, 2010;Silberman, 2010;Vrabel, Hoffart, Ro, Martinsen, & Rosenvinge, 2010) and psychopathologies (Cutajar et al 2010;Shenk, Noll, Putnam, & Trickett, 2010), amongst other symptoms, deficits and illnesses 2 . CSA victims are said to experience such repercussions to varying degrees (Yancey & Hansen, 2010), but all victims are considered traumatized in some way (Davis, 2005).…”
