“…In some soils, archaeal amoA genes are considered to be more abundant than bacterial amoA genes (19). In our field, nitrification activities were higher in Andosol with higher total N contents (28), and in glacier forelands ammonia oxidation was positively correlated to total N (41). On the other hand, the subsoils in the plots (soil type: Low-Humic Andosols) were able to adsorb nitrate (Nishio et al 2002).
