Comparison of Photovoltaic panel's standard and simplified models

Abstract: Abstract-Shockley diode equation is basic for single diode model equation, which is overly used for characterizing the photovoltaic cell output and behavior. In the standard equation, it includes series resistance (R s ) and shunt resistance (R sh ) with different types of parameters. Maximum simulation and modeling work done previously, related to single diode photovoltaic cell used this equation. However, there is another form of the standard equation which has not included Series Resistance (R s ) and Shunt… Show more

“…In the realm of photovoltaics, the characterization of I-V (current-voltage) attributes of a photovoltaic cell or panel has traditionally relied upon the utilization of one-or two-diode models [22][23][24][25]. The one-diode model, regarded for its simplicity, can be refined by incorporating a series resistor (R S ) [23].…”

“…The one-diode and two-diode models are widely used to obtain the I-V characteristic of the PV cell or panel output [17]. However, as shown in Figure 4, the onediode model is the simplest one, moreover it is improved by incorporating a series resistor Rs [18,19] and an additional shunt resistor Rsh [20].…”

“…However, despite its simplicity, it has relatively significant errors compared to experimental data when exposed to high temperature variations. Model optimization is achieved by including an additional shunt resistor Rsh [10]. In addition, its accuracy decreases at low irradiance, especially in the open circuit voltage range Voc.…”
