Most of the previous reports indicate that the main and/or characteristic constituents of Acanthopanax oils are the following: farnesol and spathulenol in A. sessiliforus (He et al, 2004), β-selinene, β-farnesene and α-curcumene in A. giraidii (Zhang et al, 2001;Zhang et al, 1994;Ni et al, 2007), α-pinene, sabinene and terpinen-4-ol in A. trifoliatus (Muselli et al, 1999), verbenone and 1,3,5-menthatriene in A. gracilistylus .
