Considerazioni fitogeografiche sulla flora della Sicilia

Abstract: On the whole the flore of Sicily is quite rich and interesting (ca. 3000 species, of which 10% are endemic), this must be mainly attributed to the physiographic peculiarities of the island as well as the paleogeographic vicissitudes. Although, this flora was object of numerous floristical and taxonomical studies since last century, it is worth inquiring furtherly because of the occurrence of critical species and groups. In order to emphasize the floristic diversity and remarkable phytogeographical interest of … Show more

“…Structure and ecology: A very poor floristically plant community characterized by Heliotropium supinum and Heleochloa schoenoides, with more hygrophilous requirement compared to the previous association, was surveyed in other wetlands. Previously this association, belonging to Verbenion supinae too, was recorded from Spain (Rivas-Martinez et al, 2002) and Sicily (Brullo & Marcenò, 1974;Brullo et al, 2002;Sciandrello, 2009).…”

“…For each taxon, life form, chorological element, frequency, and local distribution are reported. The life form of each taxon follows the Raunkiaer system as proposed by Pignatti (1982) while the chorological types are adapted from Brullo & al. (1998).…”

“…Per monitorare la vegetazione di M. Egitto nel suo complesso è stata svolta un'analisi della vegetazione su tutta la superfice del cono vulcanico utilizzando il metodo fitosociologico (Braun-Blanquet, 1964). Questa analisi ha permesso di individuare le fitocenosi che compongono il mosaico vegetazionale e a un loro inquadramento sotto il profilo dinamico ed ecologico in accordo con le conoscenze disponibili per la Sicilia (Brullo et al, 2002).…”
