Constituent and Antihyperuricemic Activity of Stelechocarpus Burahol Leaves Subfractions

Abstract: Objective: The goal of this research was to evaluate antihyperuricemic activity of Stelechocarpus burahol leaves subfractions and isolate its chemical constituent of active subfraction. Methods: Ethyl acetate fraction from S. burahol extract was subfractionated by vacuum liquid chromatography, and the active subfractions were further subfractionated by classic column chromatography using isocratic eluent, followed by isolated chemical constituent from active subfraction. Hyperuricemic rat model was induced by g… Show more

“…cumini leaves have two active flavonoid compounds that lower uric acid levels are quercetin and kaempferol [11]. The mechanism of action of the kaempferol inhibits xanthine oxidase by the inhibitory effects of them on xanthine oxidase activity [12]. Quercetin regulates renal organic ion transporters and uromodulin which play the important roles in renal urate excretion so that only a few uric acid is reabsorbed [13].…”

“…The xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitory effect of watermelon seed powder was spectrophotometrically assessed at 290 nm as per Yumita et al [30] and Sunarni et al [31], with minor modifications. Formation of uric acid was measured at 295 nm using the UV spectrometer; then, the activity of Xanthine oxidase was determined.…”
