Constructivism‐informed variation theory lesson designs in enriching and elevating science learning: Case studies of seamless learning design

Abstract: The constructivist paradigm opens abundant opportunities for effective knowledge construction in which student build knowledge and continually evaluated and improved their knowledge. The teaching mode under constructivist pedagogy redefines the role of students and the teachers and their interrelationships by creating a nurturing environment. By adapting constructivist framework, this article demonstrates how the variation of learning practices was critical in facilitating Primary 4 students in Singapore to ca… Show more

“…The learning strategy lecturers use to build inclusive religious character among students is in line with the constructivist learning model proposed by Piaget and the social constructivist learning model by Vygotsky. Piaget's constructivist learning model emphasizes that students must be trained to construct knowledge by transforming and reorganizing prior knowledge and information (Efgivia et al, 2021;Voon et al, 2020). On the other hand, lecturers or teachers can provide full support for students to explore and develop their understanding of this learning model.…”

“…The aim of the hybridisation of plugged and unplugged CT approaches is to enable teachers to grasp CT skills and transform what they have learnt into their teaching practices (pedagogical content knowledge). This may impact their future students' CT learning indirectly as the teacher plays a crucial role in deciding the focal points of the learning (Voon et al, 2020). When teachers complete multiple cycle iterations, their learning experience will increase in complexity.…”

“…Didactic training alone may not consistently lead to implementing strategies in the classroom. The application of constructive pedagogy comprises various learning experiences, creating patterns of variation, thus promoting seamless learning ( Voon et al, 2020 ). Active learning techniques such as the use of mentors, case studies, and role-playing can translate didactic material into behavioral changes implemented in a trauma sensitive classroom.…”
