Contamination of public parks in Presidente Prudente (São Paulo, Brazil) by Toxocara spp. eggs

Abstract: This study aims to evaluate soil contamination by Toxocara spp. eggs in public parks in Presidente Prudente, São Paulo, Brazil. Soil samples (500 g) were collected every month over a 12-month period, from 25 parks in different parts of the city (northern, southern, eastern, western and central areas). “…Em um estudo realizado no municí-pio de Presidente Prudente (SP), em amostras de 252 crianças, sendo 126 oriundas do Sistema Único de Saúde e 126 do sistema privado de saúde do município, verificou-se que 11,1% (28) das amostras foram reativas para anti-Toxocara spp. As prevalências encontradas foram de 9,5% no Plano de Saúde Particular e 12,7% no Plano de Saúde Público (20) .
