Abstract:Most of the research into Non-Minimal State Space (NMSS), Proportional-IntegralPlus (PIP) control system design has been in the discrete-time domain. However, continuoustime models can have a number of advantages, particularly for fast sampled systems or when it is essential that the control system responds quickly to an unexpected disturbance. The present article applies continuous-time NMSS/PIP design to two practical examples, namely a connected pair of DC electric motors in the laboratory, and a nonlinear … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
