Controllable Assembly of Al-MIL-100 via an Inducing Occupied Effect and Its Selective Adsorption Activity

Abstract: This work reported a novel method to selectively synthesize framework isomer MOF crystals Al-MIL-100 and Al-MIL-96 are framework isomers and could be obtained purposefully by whether adding inducing-agent using microwave irradiation method. Inducing-agent has an occupying effect by PO 4 tetrahedron group, which was in favor of the formation of basic building units of Al-MIL-100. Spontaneously, zeolite AlPO 4 or SAPO-34 was employed as inducing-agent for rapid and controllable synthesizing single phase Al-MIL-1… Show more

“…In addition to the large abundance of Al source, the low cost and less toxic nature of aluminum leads the chemistry of Al based MOFs to be of special interest [ 6 ]. In particular, MIL-100 [ 4 ], MIL-53 [ 2 ] and the isoreticular MOFs of MIL-53, such as DUT-4 [ 1 ], DUT-5 [ 1 ], and NH 2 -MIL-53 [ 3 ], have been investigated for their unique structural properties and potential applications [ 3 , 7 , 8 , 9 ]. Hence, our recent research interests are mainly devoted on the synthesis, properties and application studies of nanoporous aluminum MOFs [ 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 ].…”

“…Therefore, the 1 ·H 2 O solvate crystallized in the as conformation rather than the clip-shaped aa conformation. In the supramolecular structure of the solvate 1 ·H 2 O (Figure 4), the water molecules fill the cavity in the packing arrangement of compound 1 , which indicates that the space-occupying effect 30 and the crystal environment 31 were likely to play a critical role in stabilizing the conformation. Finally, the crystallization temperature may also affect the conformational behavior of this compound, but unfortunately, we failed to obtain the crystal structure of the compound at room temperature or at a lower temperature.…”

“…The formation of MIL-96 upon longer reaction times can be explained by its better thermodynamic stability. 23 The presence of unreacted trimesic acid in the pores of the compounds, which is commonly encountered when other preparation methods are used, can be excluded according to the FTIR spectra of the different samples (Figure 2, A and Fig. S3), as the characteristic bands of C=O (1720 cm -1 ) and C-O (1349 and 1273 cm -1 ) stretching of free H3BTC are not present.…”
