Coordinated cyber‐physical attacks considering DoS attacks in power systems

Abstract: SummaryThe smart grid faces a variety of physical and cyber attacks. Coordinated cyber‐physical attacks can cause severer consequences than the single cyber or physical attacks, which can be divided into two categories according to whether the physical attack is stealthy or not. Coordinated cyber‐physical attacks considering DoS attacks are investigated due to the lower cost of DoS attacks. In each category of coordinated cyber‐physical attacks, the mathematical models are derived and suitable methods are adop… Show more

“…V i and V j are voltage magnitudes on nodes i and j; G ij and B ij are the real and imaginary parts of admittance matrix on line (i, j). Constraints (25) and (26) give the upper and lower bounds of transmission lines and buses, respectively. The situation results for IEEE 39-bus and IEEE 57-bus systems are shown in Figs.…”

“…Also, load frequency control was studied by a coordinated attack model in [24]. In response to the huge threat of cyber-physical attacks, many researchers have proposed corresponding countermeasures [25], [26]. However, the above coordinated attacks do not consider the availability attacks.…”

“…With the rapid development of networking, computing, intelligence and modern control, cyber‐physical systems (CPSs) have generated considerable research interest in the past few years. CPSs deeply integrate information systems with physical systems, and have a wide range of applications in smart grids, 1,2 industrial manufacture, 3 aerospace, 4 and intelligent transportation 5 . However, due to the use of wireless networks, CPSs are vulnerable to cyber‐attacks 6‐8 …”

“…To achieve secure consensus control of MASs, some resilient continuous‐time transmission or periodic sampling transmission cooperative control frameworks have been proposed 16‐18 . For example, Tian et al 19 considered the coordinated control of a smart grid system under DoS attacks. In Reference 20, the authors investigated the resilient control problem for constrained linear MASs with bounded disturbances and DoS attacks by a sampled‐data robust model predictive control approach.…”
