Corrosion Protection of Carbon Steel Using Zirconium Oxide/Silane Pretreatment and Powder Coating

Abstract: Surface pretreatment plays important role in improvement of corrosion resistance and adhesion of organic coatings. A new generation of metal pretreatments based on nanosize zirconium oxide or ogranosilane film has been investigated recently as an alternative method to phosphatation. In this paper, ZrO2/silane composite film on carbon steel was prepared and characterised by field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectrum and electrochemical measurements. The effect of ZrO2/silane s… Show more

“…[12] Also, Mo 3 Si forms porosities during its transients oxidation state, allowing oxygen diffusion in the substrate, promoting volatile MoO 3 loss, and segregation of Si in grain boundaries. [13][14][15][16] Based on the last paragraphs, the present research focused on the evaluation of the effect of zirconia addition on the corrosion resistance of Mo 3 Si intermetallic alloy in 60 wt.% NaNO 3 , 40 wt.% KNO 3 at 600°C as well as the microstructural effects of Zr addition into the Mo 3 Si intermetallic alloy. To achieve this goal, electrochemical techniques were used.…”
