Critical Current Densities at 77 K in Ba2YCu3O7-y-Ag Films Prepared by Dipping-Pyrolysis Process

Abstract: Excellent critical current behavior at 77 K in magnetic fields up to 14 T has been obtained for Ba2YCu3O7-y (BYCO)-Ag films prepared by dipping-pyrolysis process. The films were epitaxially grown on SrTiO3(100) substrates using a two-step annealing (low-p(O2)/pure O2) method at 770°C. The best values of critical current density at 77 K under a 2-µV/cm criterion were 1.2×106 A/cm2 in a self field and 1.0×105 and 3.8×104 A/cm2 at 8 T and 14 T, respectively, when the field was applied parallel t… Show more

“…10 The LSMO films have also been prepared by wet chemical processes, e.g., the sol-gel method 11 ; however, the product films were generally polycrystalline. [12][13][14][15] The crystal structure of LSMO depends on the amount of Sr substituted; it is orthorhombic when the molar ratio x Sr͑͞La 1 Sr͒ is <0.1, and monoclinic with x > 0.1. In this paper, we describe the preparation of epitaxial LSMO films by dipping-pyrolysis (DP) process or metal-organic decomposition (MOD).…”

“…[1][2][3][4] Ag can be beneficial in improving the microstructure and, hence, increasing the critical current density (J c ). Specifically, laser ablated YBCOϩAg films have been the subject of major research efforts, 1-5 because pulsed laser deposition ͑PLD͒ is one of the best techniques to obtain good and reproducible YBCO thin films.…”

“…Previously, low Ag content in the films grown by PLD has been attributed to the preferential evaporation of the superconducting species during the deposition process. 1 Recently, Kumagai et al 4 showed in Ag-doped YBCO films grown by dipping pyrolysis that almost 80% of the Ag is lost in the postannealing process. Their result suggests a re-evaporation mechanism, possibly due to the relatively high deposition temperature of our films.…”
