Crystal structure and spectroscopic analysis of a new oxalate-bridged MnIIcompound:catena-poly[guanidinium [[aquachloridomanganese(II)]-μ2-oxalato-κ4O1,O2:O1′,O2′] monohydrate]

Abstract: A novel oxalate-bridged manganese +II compound, catena-poly[guanidinium [[aquachloridomanganese(II)]-μ2-oxalato-κ4 O 1,O 2:O 1′,O 2′] monohydrate], has been synthesized as single crystals at room temperature and characterized by X-ray diffraction, infrared and UV–Visible spectroscopic analyses, confirming the formation of a layered-type three-dimensional structure.

“…The molecular structure and atom labelling of (I), with displacement ellipsoids drawn at the 50% probability level. agreement with the data from the crystal structure analyses of known guanidinium salts (Hammerl et al, 2005;Tiritiris & Kantlehner, 2015;Sehimi et al, 2016;Buvaylo et al, 2017). Protonation in the cation of (I) occurs exclusively at the imino N atoms.…”

“…The guanidine fragments (N1/N2/N3/C4) are planar [maximum deviation = 0.010 (1) Å for atom C4], with their planes twisted by approximately 77.64 (5) with respect to each other. The C-N bond lengths fall in the range 1.3169 (11)-1.3592 (10) Å (Table 4) and are close to the analogous bonds in the cation of (I) and other aminoguanidine derivatives (Hammerl et al, 2005;Tiritiris & Kantlehner, 2015;Sehimi et al, 2016;Buvaylo et al, 2017). The twisted conformation of the cation of (II) and the charge delocalization in its CN 3 planes appear to result from the double protonation.…”

“…Many vanadium complexes of the oxalate dianion have been reported having biological (Kordowiak et al, 2000;Leó n et al, 2013) and catalysis applications (Mishra et al, 2002;Maurya et al, 2003). Many non-polymeric structural architectures of vanadium oxalate compounds have been reported, among which the synthesis of mononuclear bis(oxalato)dioxovanadate(V) complexes is limited to the easy formation of aquabis-(oxalato)oxidovanadate(IV) (Lin et al, 2004, Aghabozorg et al, 2007, Sehimi et al, 2016. Dioxovanadate(V) compounds have been studied less often; reported structures include triammonium bis(oxalato)dioxovanadate(V) dihydrate, (NH 4 )[VO 2 (C 2 O 4 ) 2 ]Á2H 2 O (Hoard et al, 1971;Atovmyan et al, 1972) and tripotassium bis(oxalato)dioxovanadate(V) trihydrate, K 3 [VO 2 (C 2 O 4 )]Á3H 2 O (Drew et al, 1974;Stomberg, 1986).…”
