“…We previously used serum from a patient with the CREST (Calcinosis, Raynauds's phenomenon, Esophageal dysmotility, Sclerodactyly, Telangiectasia) variant of systemic sclerosis in our immunofluorescence studies of meiosis in crane-fly spermatocytes and reported altered CREST staining at centromere/kinetochore regions upon exposure to cytochalasin D [LaFountain et al, 1992]. We also used sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and protein blotting to demonstrate the presence of several peptides with molecular masses of approximately 56, 53, 35, and 23 kDa in spermatocyte homogenates.…”
