Design of High-Speed Parallel Data Interface Based on ARM & FPGA

Abstract: This article described a complete design of parallel interface based on ARM & FPGA, using the on-chip DPRAM in FPGA to improve the metastability problem which was generated during data transmission between the asynchronous clock-domains ;And it achieved the design of ARM & FPGA hardware interface module , data-sending module , data-receiving module and FPGA driver module , also gave the feasible method that using a flag to solve the dislocation of data-reading ;Test results indicate that the system works stead… Show more

“…Substituting equation (15) into equation (16), we obtain equation (17) which denotes the relationship between the angular velocity of pan-tilt head and the change of the feature points on the image plane 17) where the relationship between the velocity ð _ u; _ vÞ T of the feature points and the angular velocity of joints ð _ 1 ; _ 2 Þ T is established. J À1 system represents the inverse matrix of the system Jacobean matrix J system .…”

“…However, the widely used image processing algorithms were designed for CPU device, to implement these algorithms on FPGA device is a challenging and time-consuming work. Different from the FPGA/DSP or FPGA/Advanced RISC Machine (ARM) hybrid systems 11,16 in the proposed system, FPGA and ARM core are putting together inside the ZYNQ device. Between the two processing cores, an Advanced Extensible Interface (AXI) bus can transfer data with a high band width and high frequency.…”

“…Moreover, in this case the FPGAs work as distributed reconfigurable devices that permit the implementation of different functionalities everywhere using remote resources. Most of the contributions in the scientific world try to make the most of the FPGAs in order to reduce the transmission of data among the sensor nodes [ 57 , 58 ], to change dynamically the frequency [ 59 , 60 ] and to turn on the radio transceiver selectively [ 61 ]. This subsection describes the main approaches developed in Spain concerning the use of FPGAs in sensor networks, where it will be seen that they are related with the purposes above commented.…”

“…In order to facilitate the latter part of the data processing and analysis applications, it needs for high-speed data acquisition and storage. As the amount of data is very large, the current high-speed serial differential mode is usually used for transmission [1]. This can greatly reduce the mutual crosstalk between signals and external noise interference.…”
