Background: Adolescence is a crucial period for developing and maintaining social and emotional habit. Multiple factors determine the mental health of an adolescent. This study aimed to examine the associations between smoking and other factors with emotional mental disorders among adolescents. Subjects and Method: This was a cross sectional study. A sample of 9,819 junior and senior high schools was selected for this study. The dependent variable was mental emotional disorder. The independent variables were smoking status, age, gender, education, absence of close friend, relationship with parents, being bullied, and alcohol consumption. The data was obtained from Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS) in 2015. The data was analyzed by a multiple logistic regression. Results: Mental emotional disorders increased with smoking status (OR= 1.60; 95% CI= 1.31 to 1.97; p= <0.001), being bullied (OR= 2.84; 95% CI= 2.45 to 3.30; p<0.001) and absence of close friendship (OR= 2.23; 95%CI= 1.59 to 3.14; p<0.001). Conclusion:Mental emotional disorders are associated with smoking, being bullied, and absence of close friendship.

Suicide happens throughout one’s life and is a serious health problem. World Health Organization (WHO) placed suicidal problem as society health priority. Many things is related to suicide, among others mental disorders like depression, anxiety, alcohol consumption behavior, life pressure experienced, financial problem, personal relation, or so is chronic illness experienced, conflict occurred, disaster, harassment, alienation social demography characteristic. Objective research to identify the risk factor of suicidal thought in several regions in Indonesia. The study design was Cross sectional research conducted in 3 (three) districts/cities in Indonesia. Proportional illustration Sample taken conducted using stratified random sampling.  Fixed variables analyzed such as the suicidal thoughts with the independent variable are gender, age, marital status, education, employment, ownership statistic, depression, anxiety. Univariate, bivariate and multivariate using the SPSS software. The result of the research showed that suicidal behavior happened more often to depressed individual, lived in the cities, anxious, productive age group, has low education level. Respondent suffered through depression 11 times more likely to have suicidal thoughts. The risk of suicidal behavior also increased 5 times to respondent in the cities. Respondent living anxiety 2 times riskier to have suicidal intent. Blue collar respondent also 2 times more risk in comparison to civil servants to have suicidal intent. Therefore it can be concluded that The influence of psychological factors is more substantial to inflict suicidal behavior, even though there is also effect of the social economy factor.

The psychosocial factor is one of the factors that caused depression in adolescents. The adolescent group is one group that has the potential for depression. The impact of depression caused psychosocial factor can affect mental health. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between psychosocial factor with depression in 12th grade XY high school student Jember. This study is an observasional study with a cross – sectional approach. The sample of this research is 158 samples and the samples use simple random sampling. Data were collected by conducting an online survey using a questionnaire are BDI - II (Beck Depression Inventory - II) and Y PSC - 17 (Youth The Pediatric Symptom- 17) in the google form. The research data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The results showed that, there was a relationship between the psychosocial factor and the incidence of depression (p value = 0,000). The result of this research can be used as the basis for other research and can be used to make mental health regulations or programs appropriate to the problem.Keywords: Depression, Psychcosocial Factor, Adolescent. ABSTRAKFaktor psikososial merupakan salah satu faktor penyebab depresi pada remaja. Kelompok remaja merupakan salah satu kelompok yang berpotensi mengalami depresi. Dampak depresi yang ditimbulkan faktor psikososial dapat berpengaruh terhadap kesehatan mental. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan faktor psikososial dengan depresi pada siswa kelas 12 SMA XY Jember. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 158 sampel dan pengambilan sampel menggunakan simple random sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan melakukan survei online menggunakan kuisioner BDI - II (Beck Depression Inventory - II) dan Y PSC - 17 (Youth The Pediatric Symptom-17) melalui google form. Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji Chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara faktor psikososial dengan kejadian depresi (p value = 0,000). Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan dasar untuk penelitian lain dan dapat digunakan untuk membuat regulasi atau program kesehatan mental yang sesuai dengan permasalahannya.Kata Kunci: Depresi, Faktor Psikososial, Remaja.
