Determination of Antiproliferative Activities of Volatile Contents and HPLC Profiles of Dicranum scoparium (Dicranaceae, Bryophyta)

Abstract: The aim of this study was to examine the anticancer activities and phytochemical profiles of Dicranum scoparium against HeLa cell lines. The bio-guided fractionation studies of dichloromethane extract have high antiproliferative activities. Fractions 7, 9, 19, 20 are rich source of unsaturated fatty acids, and- in the case of Fr-19 may improve the antiproliferative activities as well as increase the unsaturated fatty acid content. The effect of proliferative activities in hexane extract can be attributed to th… Show more

“…Injection volume was 10 µl. Phenolic compounds analysis was carried out as described by [9], using an Agilent Technologies 1260 Infinity HPLC System coupled with 6210 Time of Flight (TOF) LC/MS detector. The separation was carried out on ZORBAX SB-C18 (4.6 x100 mm, 3.5μm) column.…”

“…A previous report on Dicranum scoparium proposed that fractions of the plant contained phytol acetate and proffered antiproliferative effects on HeLa cancer cells [42]. Since phytol acetate was also present in F1, F3 and F4, the findings might indicate that phytol acetate did not have high impact on antiproliferation of cancer cells.…”
