“…The mucoadhesive and texture properties facilitate the hydrogels adhesion to the biological surface and impact the applicability of the formulation, which thereby improves the efficiency of local therapy. The mechanism of the hydrogel mucoadhesion phenomenon mainly involves the formation of non-covalent, hydrogen, or ionic bonds, or van der Waal's interactions and, therefore, promotes entanglement between the adhesion layer and polymer [20,21].
