Four simple, precise and sensitive visible spectrophotometric methods were developed for the determination of solifenacin succinate in pure and pharmaceutical dosage forms. The proposed methods were based on the estimation of unreacted N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) with four dyes, namely, amaranth, safranin, aniline blue and rhodamine B, by the drug oxidation by known excess of NBS at laboratory temperature. Beer-Lambert's law revealed good correlation in the concentration ranges of 10-70, 20-80, 30-80, and 10-50 μg/mL for methods A, B, C and D, respectively. The developed methods were successfully applied to the determination of solifenacin succinate in commercially available dosage forms. Statistical comparison of the results showed insignificant difference between the proposed methods and reference method. The proposed methods offered the advantages of simplicity and economy that can be applied without the need for expensive instrumentation and reagents in quality control analysis.
