Determination of Volatile Terpenes in Coriander Cold Pressed Oil by Vacuum Assisted Sorbent Extraction (VASE)

Abstract: Cold-pressed plant oils are of high interest to consumers due to their unique and interesting flavors. As they are usually only pressed at low temperatures and filtered, without further processing stages (as refining), they preserve their character that originates from the plant the oil was extracted from. Coriander cold pressed oil is gaining popularity as a novel product, obtained from its fruits/seeds; due to the high amount of terpenes, it has very characteristic flavor. A novel, vacuum-assisted sorbent ex… Show more

“…Coriander oil could also reduce blood glucose and HbA1c levels, enhance insulin release and protect pancreas against diabetic pathological changes [11]. GC-MS analyses of coriander oils revealed variations in their composition that could be attributed to the variation in their geographical sources and extraction methods; however, linalool was the major component in all of them [9,12,13].…”

“…The control sample was beer without the addition of coriander seeds (beer with the addition of hops during boiling). The results presented by Jeleń et al [ 35 ] confirm the occurrence of linalool, geraniol, and camphor in coriander oil. In our research, typical aromatic hops for the production of wheat beers (Tettnanger 5.5% alpha acids) were also used as an addition.…”
