Development and root morphology of passion fruit in different substrates

Abstract: Among the factors that contribute to better initial development of plants, it is the substrate used. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of substrate in initial formation and morphology of the roots of two species of passion fruits. The analyses were done in the nursery of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), Regional Jataí, Brazil, with a light interception of 60%. The material used were seeds of yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa) and the cultivar FB 200 (Flora Brasil), ha… Show more

“…As an alternative to the aforementioned substrates, research has been carried out with mixtures of organic materials, since these have appropriate physical and chemical properties for the development of quality seedlings, have low cost and are easily acquired [9,10,11], in addition to provide less dependence on external inputs and reduced seedling production costs [12].…”

“…This alternative allows production systems that do not use chemical synthesis fertilizers to obtain organic fertilizers from the composting of fish waste and carbon sources (Sanes et al, 2011). New, promising substrates are used for better crop productions systems in greenhouses (Carini et al, 2018;Valle et al, 2018).…”
