Development of android-based chemistry learning media for experimenting

Abstract: Learning media is an important component in the learning process. Technology and computer-based media is one of the media needed. It aims to attract students to learn chemistry material, especially material that need more efforts to understand. This research aims to develop android-based chemistry learning media for experimenting by using simulation models in Senior High School 2 Palangka Raya. The methods of this study are a research and development (R & D) by Alessi and Trollip. Product testing consists … Show more

“…This finding revealed the importance of animations and multimedia in video to support students' learning in chemistry. Putra, et al [39] stated that android-based chemistry learning media in the form of multimedia could attract students' interests in learning chemistry. Abstract chemistry concepts are best viewed using visual representations with the aid of modern technology, such as multimedia and animated video [6], [39].…”

“…Putra, et al [39] stated that android-based chemistry learning media in the form of multimedia could attract students' interests in learning chemistry. Abstract chemistry concepts are best viewed using visual representations with the aid of modern technology, such as multimedia and animated video [6], [39]. Animation helps to illustrate the chemical phenomena at the submicroscopic level, and to relate it to different symbolic representations of concepts in chemistry [40].…”

“…By duplicating the actual circumstances it allows decision-makers to perform an experimental system of behavioral systems and predictions and the results are based on inputs of various parameters and rules. (Gusmida & Islami, 2017), (Chang et al, 2020), (Angelini & García-Carbonell, 2019), (Szanajda & Ou, 2018), and (P. S. Putra et al, 2020) researched that developing media through simulation-based instruction in some different fields of research. According to (Angelini & García-Carbonell, 2019), a simulation can be described as the activity in which participants are assigned duties and provide more information about the problem to perform the responsibility without play-acting or creating key facts and it is applied in several disciplines in many fields such as medicine, nursing, engineering and language.…”

“…Frequent learning and repeat use of learning resources could enhance students' academic performance [4]. Furthermore, Android platform provides opportunity for teachers to combine all types of media i.e visual, audio, text, and evaluation tools that activate multiple recognitions of students [5]. They could practically activate most of their five senses at the same time, which is very useful for students in mastering challenging course like chemistry.…”
