Atualmente, a investigaçã… Show more

“…However, in situations where type 2 diabetes is already present before pregnancy, similar changes could be expected, because insulin production by the developing fetus occurs early during gestation (Scharfmann, 2000) leading to fetal hyperinsulinemia in both types of maternal diabetes (Mitanchez et al, 2015). In the case of gestational diabetes, which usually develops during the second or third trimester of pregnancy the risk of congenital malformations is present but reduced as organogenesis might be completed at the time of hyperglycemia(Abi‐Abib et al, 2014; Catalano et al, 1993; Coustan, 2013). Moreover, the outgrowth of peripheral and central terminals of primary sensory neurons occurs during late fetal development and continues after birth (Jackman & Fitzgerald, 2000).…”

“…They also have an increased risk of developing hypertensive disorders during pregnancy, characterizing the pregnancy as high-risk, a fact that demands greater care and follow-up to prevent possible complications and death. [4][5][6][7][8] Considering the increasing presence of the main risk factors for the development of GD in women of childbearing age and the fact that pregnancies associated with GD are characterized as high-risk, therefore requiring more caution and attention, the present research aimed at comparing the maternal and fetal outcomes of parturients with and without a diagnosis of GD.…”
