Dielectronic recombination data for dynamic finite-density plasmas

Abstract: Abstract. Dielectronic recombination data for the beryllium isoelectronic sequence has been calculated as part of the assembly of a dielectronic recombination database necessary for modelling of dynamic finite-density plasmas (Badnell et al. , A&A, 406, 1151. Dielectronic recombination coefficients for a selection of ions from this sequence are presented and the results discussed.

“…The most recent theoretical calculations (e.g., Gu 2003a; Zatsarinny et al 2003;Colgan et al 2003) agree reasonably well with the storage-ring measurements for iron L-shell ions (Savin et al 1999(Savin et al , 2002a. Much less attention has been given to M-shell ions.…”

“…The calculated results of Colgan et al (2003) show a similar shape to our experimental rate coefficients and our AUTOSTRUCTURE results. In the temperatures range of 3 × 10 3 −10 6 K, our AUTOSTRUCTURE calculations agree very well with the rate coefficients of Colgan et al (2003).…”

“…In the temperatures range of 3 × 10 3 −10 6 K, our AUTOSTRUCTURE calculations agree very well with the rate coefficients of Colgan et al (2003). Below 3 × 10 3 , the AUTOSTRUCTURE results show the opposite behaviour to Colgan et al (2003) calculations.…”

“…Rate coefficients for ground state dielectronic recombination are taken from Badnell (2006a) for hydrogen-like ions, from Bautista & Badnell (2007) for helium-like ions, from Colgan et al (2004) for lithiumlike ions, from Colgan et al (2003) for the beryllium-like ions, Altun et al (2005) for the boron-like ions, from Zatsarinny et al (2005b) for carbon-like ions, Mitnik & Badnell (2004) for nitrogen-like ions, Zatsarinny et al (2005a) for oxygen-like ions, Zatsarinny et al (2006) for fluorine-like ions, Zatsarinny et al (2004) for neon-like ions, Altun et al (2006) for sodium-like ions, and Altun et al (2007) for magnesium-like ions. This set of calculations provide a coherent set of dielectronic recombination rates and we have adopted them as a standard by which to assess the validity of other calculations.…”
