“…The advantage of applying thymol fumigation is the elicitation of important defence response at the enzymatic and transcript level making the fruit less susceptible to fungal development post infection (Table 3). As biological fumigants, essential oils elicit the incidence of enzyme activities and genes expressed in fruit after storage and they have demonstrated to have to phytotoxic effect of the pericarp of the fruit when applied as in vapour form [50].
