Dimensional Stability of Light-Activated Urethane Dimethacrylate Denture Base Resins

Abstract: An accurate and dimensionally stable trial denture base is required for a successful denture. The aim of this in vitro study was to assess the dimensional stability of a light-activated urethane dimethacrylate (UDMA) visible light cure (VLC) denture base with three fabrication techniques and different curing cycles. Forty-five VLC denture base samples were divided evenly into three groups. Group A used a conventional fabrication technique with a curing cycle of 5 min. Group B used a modified fabrication techni… Show more

“…In a patient’s mouth or under clinical conditions, the results might be affected negatively due to different insertion and removal paths, based on the anatomical aspects of teeth and the mobility of natural teeth. Furthermore, patients can change the path of insertion and/or removal used to move the RPD creating greater loads on the tooth, which may lead to clasp deflection or fracture in a short period [ 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 , 48 , 49 ]. Consequently, more studies on clinical conditions are required.…”

“…Another significant theoretical implication of the present study is the use of TAM in explaining the intended behavior of academicians to use e-learning. Many previous studies have used TAM to measure the intention of students to use e-learning methods such as social media, m-learning, and Internet learning [ 41 , 80 , 81 , 82 , 83 , 84 , 85 , 86 ]. However, studies lack the use of TAM to explore the behavioral intentions of academicians.…”

“…Printed composite resins are mostly used for temporary crowns and bridges, and promising results in terms of flexural strength, fracture load, and hardness have been found [22,23]. Moreover, composite resins such as urethane dimethacrylate (UDMA) showed good dimensional stability and a lack of residual monomers, reducing the risk of contact allergies [24,25]. For these reasons, UDMA could be considered a suitable alternative for denture base fabrication.…”
