“…Numerous studies documented that the hypoxia microenvironment was able to enhance tumor progression [9,15]. A growing body of evidence demonstrated that there is a high correlation between hypoxia and lung cancer metastasis and poor prognosis [16,17]. Unfortunately, the OLV anesthesia technique, widely used during lung cancer surgery, aggravates hypoxia, which promotes the invasiveness of lung cancer [11].…”

“…The slides were assessed independently by 2 investigators, who were unaware of the clinical data; any disagreement was resolved by discussion. The staining intensity and distribution were evaluated according to the method of Choi et al, 19 Tanaka et al, 20 and Andersen et al, 21 to determine the immunoexpression in stroma or parenchymal cells, the cellular location of this staining (membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus), and location at the periphery or in the center of the tumor islands. Staining intensity was evaluated using scores of 0 to 2, with 0 indicating no staining, 1, weak staining, and 2, strong staining.…”

“…Cases in which more than 10% of cells were stained were defined as positive. 21,22 The staining distribution was analyzed quantitatively using the following criteria adapted from Lee et al 23 : focal (<50% of immunostained cells) and diffuse (>50% of immunostained cells).…”

“…In patients with lung adenocarcinoma, only a few parameters are described as a prognostic factors such as stage of disease, tumor metabolism, high GLUT1 expression and performance status (de Geus-Qei et al, 2007;Andersen et al, 2011).…”

“…In patients with lung adenocarcinoma, only a few parameters are described as a prognostic factors such as stage of disease, tumor metabolism, high GLUT1 expression and performance status (de Geus-Qei et al, 2007;Andersen et al, 2011).Serum total proteins contain albumin, globulins and other inflammatory proteins such as C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukins and tumor necrosis factors (McPherson et al, 2006). Albumin and globulins play a pivotal role in the inflammatory process .…”
