DRO1/CCDC80: a Novel Tumor Suppressor of Colorectal Carcinogenesis

Abstract: Dro1/Ccdc80 has been identified as a tumor suppressor gene in colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancer. Dro1/ Ccdc80 is ubiquitously expressed and has, next to its tumor suppressive role, been implicated in a wide range of biological processes, including adipogenesis, lens development, and skeletogenesis. DRO1/CCDC80 is a secreted protein that assembles with the extracellular matrix and promotes cell adhesion. The biological mechanisms by which DRO1/CCDC80 exerts its various functions are still widely unknown. … Show more

“…Ras Association Domain Family Member 1 (RASSF1C) located on chromosome 3, which interacts with Bax, Caspase 3, and SRPX gene could promote cell migration and downregulate apoptosis. 137 The BRCA2 gene associated with TREX-2 complex subunit PCID and DSS1 that are implicated in messenger ribonucleoprotein (mRNP) biogenesis and export and maintenance of the genome stability. 138 These associations use to indicate that R-loop is the major cause of replication-related stress and cellular instability.…”
