EFEK 2-METHOXYETHANOL TERHADAP STRUKTUR HISTOLOGI TESTIS MENCIT (Mus musculus)

Abstract: This research has done to investigate the effect of 2-Methoxyethanol on the testicular histology of the male mice and also the influence the length of time after administration 2-ME stopped in the recovery of the spermatogenic cells and the diameter also the thicknes of seminiferous tubule. Thirty BALB/C male mice 8–9 week old, weighed 28–30 grams body weight. Those mice separated to 6 groups with 5 male mice each group. Those mice were treated with 2-ME 200 mg/kg body weight daily by intra peritoneal injectio… Show more

“…This condition can also be caused by 2-ME. This statement is supported by the results of previous research which states that exposure to 2-ME 200 mg/kg BW resulted in the destruction of seminiferous tubules, decreased spermatogonium and spermatid levels and damaged spermatozoa morphology (Hayati et al 2004).…”

“…The 2-ME compound is not found naturally in environment because its presence in nature is the result of industrial and factory activity. The 2-ME compounds may cause decreased motility and morphology of spermatozoa (Hayati et al 2004). The 2-methoxyethanol (2-ME) compound is one of the toxic materials that potentially damage male reproductive organs.…”

“…Oxidation stress is caused by the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Very high levels of ROS not only affect the integrity of DNA in the nucleus of spermatozoa, but also the flexibility of cell membranes thereby reducing the quality of spermatozoa (Hayati et al 2004). Dates contain high antioxidants in the form of flavonoids.…”
