This study aims to determine the content of secondary metabolites in miana leaf ethanol extract, and to determine the effective dose of miana leaf ethanol extract in reducing urea and creatinine levels in male white rats. This study used 30 rats divided into 6 treatment groups, each group consisting of 5 test animals, namely normal group, negative control, positive control, dose of 150 mg/kg BW, dose 200 mg/kg BW, and dose 250 mg/kg. kg body weight. The data obtained will then be tested for normality and homogeneity to find out the data is normally distributed and homogeneous. If the data is normally distributed and homogeneous, then it is continued using One Way Anova statistical analysis at a 95% confidence level and further LSD test is carried out. If the data obtained is not normal and homogeneous, then it is analyzed using non-parametric statistics Kruskal-Wallis test and continued with Mann Whitney further test to determine the difference between all treatments. The results showed that the ethanolic extract of miana leaves contained secondary metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins,and tannins; miana leaf ethanol extract has an effect on reducing urea and creatinine; Miana leaf ethanol extract at a dose of 250 mg/kg BW was an effective dose in reducing urea and creatinine with an average decrease of 18.8 mg/dl and 0.64 mg/dl.

Jerawat merupakan penyakit kulit yang dapat disebabkan oleh bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis. Bakteri ini secara alami terdapat di dalam folikel dan berkontribusi terhadap perkembangan jerawat. Jerawat memiliki berbagai jenis seperti komedo, papula, pustula, nodul dan kista disertai dengan tingkat keparahan yang berbeda-beda. Adapun cara penangan jerawat yang efektif yaitu dengan produk topikal. Produk topikal merupakan sediaan yang penerapannya pada kulit dengan tujuan menghasilkan efek lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan efektivitas produk topikal anti jerawat dengan merek Vitacid® dalam bentuk sediaan gel dan krim terhadap tikus putih jantan (Rattus novergicus). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode experimental dengan variabel bebas menggunakan produk topikal antijerawat dalam bentuk sediaan gel dan krim yang mengandung bahan aktif tretinoin 0,05% dan variabel terikat yaitu perbedaan skor tingkat derajat keparahan jerawat yang diterapi produk topikal anti jerawat. Pengamatan dilakukan pada hari ke-0,7,14 dan 21. Pengolahan data menggunakan penilaian skor tingkat keparahan jerawat secara visual dan pengolahan data statistik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan produk topikal anti jerawat Vitacid® dalam bentuk sediaan gel memiliki penurunan nilai derajat keparahan jerawat lebih baik dari sediaan krim secara visual. Hasil pengujian analisis statistik menunjukkan adanya perbedaan bermakna antara kelompok produk topikal anti jerawat Vitacid® menggunakan uji One-Way ANOVA dengan nilai p=0,005 (p<0,05) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Post-Hoc Bonferroni dengan nilai p=0,015 (p<0,05). Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat dibuat kesimpulan bahwa produk topikal anti jerawat Vitacid® dengan bahan aktif tretinoin 0,05% dalam bentuk sediaan gel dan sediaan krim memiliki perbedaan efektivitas, dimana sediaan gel memiliki efektivitas lebih baik dibandingkan sediaan krim dalam pengobatan jerawat.

African leaves (Vernonia amygdalina Delile.) contain flavonoids having an antioxidant activities. The research aimed to determine the nephrotherapy effect of the ethanolic extract of African leaves with the parameter of male rat urea (Rattus norvegicus) induced by gentamicin. The research used 18 rats divided into 6 groups consisting of group I as the normal group, group Il the Negative Control (gentamicin 80 mg I kgBW), group Ill the Positive Contfol (amino acid supplement), group IV, V, and VI given the ethanol extract of African leaves, each dose of 100 mg/kgBW, 250 mg/kgBW, 500 mg/kgBW. The induction of gentamicin 80 mg/kg BW was administered for eight days and the therapy for the ethanol extract of African leaves for fourteen days. The research data were statistically analyzed using the ANOVA test followed by the Post Hoc LSD test. The results showed that the ethanol extract of African leaves had the nephrotherapy effects in reducing the urea in male rat induced by gentamicin.
